Interview with Carey Ann Kramer

I always wanted to be a writer, ever since I was little. My first success was at one of my tween birthdays when I wrote my first story, a murder mystery to be acted out. My friends loved it and said I should be a writer someday! Years later, I dusted off my dreams, and “Welcome, to someday!”

I believe life will always take you full circle to where you are meant to be. If you have ever longed to write a book, then do it. Set it as a priority in your life and carve out a few minutes every day to write. There is no perfect science to chasing a dream. The key is just to start.

There is something to be said about childhood dreams and those who have the courage to pursue them. I encourage you to pursue yours. Though the journey may be hard, there is no replacement for how it makes you feel to pursue what you love to do.

Tell readers a few things about yourself.

When I was little, I originally wanted to be a veterinarian.  When I learned about some of the hard decisions they have to make, I decided it wasn’t for me. Now, I write stories about animals. I do have some stories that I am working on that have human characters for the tween and young adult.

Did you always want to write?

Yes, I always wanted to be a writer, ever since I was little.  My first success was at one of my tween birthdays when I wrote my first story, a murder mystery to be acted out. My friends loved it and said I should be a writer someday! Years later, I dusted off my dreams, and “Welcome, to someday!”

What book or article are you currently working on or just released?

I am currently working on a young adult series that has something to do with pineapples. Whenever I am working on a new project or developing a new idea, you will always find something related close by me. That is why I am currently wearing a pineapple ring.

The Puppy Princess Series

Interview with Author Carey Ann Kramer

Do you write in silence or with background noise/music?

I love to write in a quiet place with the soft humming of a fan or the air conditioner in the background. It lets me hear my thoughts, the words that I put on the page. In contrast, if an idea hits me, I can be in the busiest of places and can block out the noise to capture as much of it down as I can. Then, I take my notes back to my quiet place to write. 😊

What do you want your readers to take away from your books/writing?

I always want readers to take away moral lessons and a dose of inspiration

Where do you get your inspiration?

Inspiration and ideas are all around us. You just have to open up your eyes and look.

For Young Writers

Did you dream of being a writer/author when you were young?

Yes. It was more like a fantasy career, like being a pop star. When I was little, I never thought about what I would write. I just knew I wanted to be a writer. I have always been young at heart, so being a children’s author is a perfect fit for me.

What advice do you have for young writers?

When I was a young writer, I wish someone would have told me to write from my heart. I would have found my voice as a writer much sooner.
